About

One of the first small professional theatre companies in Los Angeles, Theatre 40 quickly established itself as innovative, becoming the first professional company to perform free Shakespeare-in-the-park, in L.A. by staging productions of Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice in MacArthur Park in 1967. Over the years, Theatre 40’s menu of plays has become more eclectic; we not only perform the classics, but in addition, European plays, American classics, contemporary plays, and West Coast, Los Angeles and World Premieres. 2008-2009 marked our 43rd year, and as we search for broader horizons, we look forward to having our audience grow with us.
